Holy Week begins March 28th with Palm/Passion Sunday. On this final Sunday of our “Holy Vessels” series, the parade of compassionate power we celebrate today is underscored by a story of transformation, symbolizing our ability to fuel our movement of recovery. Worhsip will be offered in person (click here to reserve your spot) as well as online. You may pick up a palm during office hours on 3/24 & 25, should you choose virtual worship.
Our journey to the cross continues with Good Friday, April 2nd. This year, “Stations of the Cross” will be offered to depict through artistic expression the path that Christ walked on the day of his crucifixion. This walk, a journey through passion and prayer, also known as the Way of the Cross, functions as devotion during the Lenten season for centuries. Stations of the Cross — Sharing Space with Christ 2021 is a version for you to use at home or you may choose to visit the sanctuary from 12-3pm that day to experience a quiet meditation at the church. (Should you choose to visit in person, we ask that you respect social distancing and wear a mask while in the building.)
Good Friday Worship will take place on Friday, April 2nd at 7pm. Join us for a traditional Tenebrae service featuring scripture reading and contemplative music to accompany John’s story of the trial, sentencing, execution, death, and burial of Jesus. Click here to reserve your spot for in-person worship. Worship will be offered via Zoom and Facebook live as well.
Easter Sunday Worship will take place Sunday, April 4th at 10am. Christ is Risen! Hallelujah! Join us as we celebrate! We will be blessed with the combined choirs of Friendship Church and First Congregational Church of Elmhurst under the direction of our new music director, Jim Molina! Again, worship will be offered in person (click here to reserve your spot), and virtually.
For those choosing to worship remotely, reminder emails will be sent prior to each service with login information.
